Explore the Key Highlights from ROOT’s EO Policy Analysis

Following the publication of ROOT’s EO Policy Analysis Report, the project has prepared a concise set of highlights presenting some of the main findings and recommendations from the analysis.

The highlights offer a quick way to explore the key messages emerging from the study. They look at where Earth Observation and skills priorities converge, where gaps remain, and how these challenges differ across Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands and Greece. They also bring together insights from stakeholders on the skills and capabilities needed to support the future development of the EO sector.

Among the key messages is the need to move beyond recognising skills needs and strengthen the mechanisms that turn policy priorities into education, training, career and employment opportunities. The analysis also points to growing demand for hybrid profiles combining EO and geospatial expertise with areas such as AI, data science, cloud technologies and sector-specific knowledge.

The highlights also introduce four of the eight recommendations proposed in the report, including developing a European EO skills ecosystem, better aligning education with labour market needs, improving the visibility of EO careers and strengthening lifelong learning.
